In fact, Serra Park has long been considered one of the best parks in Silicon Valley and the Peninsula. Opened in 1963, (I was at the Grand Opening), it has since grown to over 13 acres. The old “Lester’s Field,” was converted to add a parking lot, two tennis courts, multiple picnic areas and lots of rolling grass.

When the park opened, Serra elementary school was in its infancy, which of course, was a natural fit. Parents knew where their kids were 7 days a week. The adjoining school grounds also have ballparks and basketball courts.

Serra Park amenities include many recirculating ponds and streams, play areas, spray pool, lighted tennis courts, a skating rink, parcourse, multi-use fields, and picnic areas with restrooms.

Two generations of our family have enjoyed this wonderful park, I’m sure the third will, too.
