Q: The listing period expired and we have decided to stay put for the time being. However, since our phone number was in the listing, we have been bombarded with phone calls. Originally, the calls were from vendors associated with the moving process or preparing one’s home for sale. Those calls subsided, now the phone calls are from real estate agents trying to re-list our property. How do we stop this inane behavior?


A: Sounds like you do not wish to change telephone number, nor should you. First, you must get on the national Do-Not-Call registry. Secondly, add to your outgoing message to callers that you do not tolerate telephone solicitations. Third, you can always complain to the real estate agents’ supervising brokers until this subsides.
