Q: We are trying to buy a property and have not had one response to our offers. Isn’t the job of a seller’s agent to let the buyers and their agent know what is happening with our offer?
A: It is in the best interest of a Seller’s Agent, (also referred to as the Listing Agent), to operate with a high level of communication. However, real estate attorneys remind us that the seller and the Listing Agent are under no obligation to respond to an offer. Listing Agents who decide for whatever reason to remain silent have absolutely no training in negotiations, if they had, your offer would have been the beginning of a dialog, not the conclusion.
